Hi all, my name is Maple and I joined rescue yesterday with the other ladies “formerly known as mill mamas.” I am so glad that my life of having puppies for money is now behind me and I can look forward to relaxing and enjoying my freedom. I love my new name and I think it fits perfectly as my coat is a beautiful “maple colored brindle!”
I checked into the clinic with my friend Aurora as I have very “raspy” breathing. So we should be first in line for the “lap holding!” I am a happy girl and my little tail cannot stop wagging. When I arrived at the clinic, I was a little scared but this nice guy picked me up, gave me a hug and told me everything was going to be fine. He even put a fan on my crate to help me cool down and breathe better.
I can’t wait to run around with my other girlfriends, play and then we can all look for a family of our own.
Keep me in your thoughts…just think of Maple doughnuts, Maple leaves, Maple syrup, Maple trees & OMG don’t forget Maple Bars!
Just like these things…I am unforgettable!
9/14/22 Update: Maple is very congested. We are doing nebulizer treatments to help with breaking up anything in her chest. She has rotted teeth with lots of infection in her mouth. Her lymph nodes are swollen, but that’s most likely due to the infection in her mouth. She has a very dry hair coat and a mild yeast infection in both ears. She’ll be having her spay and hernia repair on Sept. 22, as long as her congestion is better. She has a possible hypoplastic trachea, but we’ll be able to know more once all of the infection has been treated. It’s also obvious that she’s had multiple C-sections.
10/1/22 Update: Wow! What a week. On Wednesday, I had a big surgery and then on Friday, I went to my foster family.
For my surgery, they resected my elongated palate, removed some polyps from around my larynx and stretched out my nostrils. All of this will help me breathe better. The doctor was shocked I had lived this long with my breathing as bad as it was. He also said there was a lot of inflammation, whatever that is. There was also a lot of scaring in my throat. He thinks someone once tried to “debark” me by removing my vocal cords.
But all that is now behind me. I am in my foster home, but I am not yet allowed to run and play. I got a quick glance at the three handsome boy Bulldogs here. I can’t wait to spend more time with them.
Foster Pop just told me to settle down and enjoy some extra rest for a few days. He also said it I were not careful, I was going to shake my tail plumb off. I am just so happy with my life, I can’t help but show it. He said he would send you a video soon.
10/3/22 Update: I have really enjoyed my first few days in my foster home. It has been so different from the puppy mill and even the clinic. I’m not sure what to do with all my freedom! Foster pop says he learns more about make every day.
Here is is he has learned so far:
I love to snuggle with you.
I LOVE to wiggle my butt. It never stops!
I love to be where you are.
I always like to take time to explore and check everything out.
I am very curious. There are so many things I have never seen or done.
I love Benebones and tennis balls.
I am not a fan of grass. I prefer the familiar feel of concrete.
I pee whenever and wherever I want. FPop says we will work on that!
I am still chilling from all my throat surgery last week, so I have not reached my full potential yet. I have surgery next week to remove some lady parts and some rotten teeth.
Stay tuned as my delightful journey continues.
