ON TEMPORARY MEDICAL HOLD!
Bulldog friends, I think it is important that you know everything about me. My name is Lucky and I just turned a year old. I was born with a cleft palate which is a birth defect. For some reason, there is a split in the roof of my mouth. It should have been closed before I was born. Often food goes in my mouth and out my nose.
Because this is a birth defect most dogs born with this have no value and are never given a chance. That is what happened to me. Someone put me out on the side of the road in the snow. I just sat there looking around wondering how long it would take before I froze to death. But then came Tim.
Tim was going to work and he saw me, picked me up, and named me Lucky. Tim became my hero! Tim would turn me over and brush out the cleft. He would hand feed me. And Tim took me to have my cleft repaired. The surgery went great. But, someone should have told me dragging a stick around could undo all that had just been done, and sure enough I ripped out the repair. After all I was just a puppy and puppies drag everything around.
A week or so ago Tim and I sat down to talk about my future. Tim knew that I needed another surgery and he was still paying on the last one! Tim loved me. He told me I needed a lot more than he could give and my health was a priority. He told me I was a perfect little buddy and I would make someone so happy.
Today we said our good-byes. We both cried. But then I remembered I was going to have surgery and that everything was going to be all right! I can’t wait!
10/1/22 Update: I’ve settled into my foster home over the last few weeks. I am still recovering from cleft palate surgery, so no hard food or things for me!
Foster Mom bought me some new toys – a hamburger and a football! My favorite is the football and I carry it everywhere. I hear a lot of, “No not the wet football!”
I would love a family who will hang with me on the couch. I’d love one who will play and snuggle with me, too. I love kids and other dogs!
Come meet me today, Oct. 1, at our Bulldog Bonanza at The Shacks at Austin Ranch.
10/3/22 Update: I had a great time at my first Bulldog Bonanza yesterday! I met so many people and they all thought I was super cute.
I hid a few times under the Bulldog stuff table because I was getting a little overwhelmed. I also inquired at the info table if my furever family checked in, by chance. I’m still looking, so until then, I will just hang onto my football and relax.
